SMC, along with the Center for Symbolic Studies, is pleased to announce another Havening for Mental Health Professionals workshop. We invite physicians, psychotherapists, nurses, EMT’s, occupational and physical therapists and others who wish to learn to work with the aftermath of trauma. Havening is a breakthrough therapeutic technique utilizing tapping, gentle stroking, EMDR-like techniques, and psychological skill to relieve the after-affects of severe, and even long standing, trauma in a brief, decisive intervention.

Havening, a form of Psychosensory therapy, involves the use light touch as its sensory component to create profound and permanent changes in both the structure and molecular make up of the brain. Anger, fear, unwanted reflective emotions such as shame, jealousy, grief, guilt, are subject to rapid removal following Havening. In addition, chronic pain, phobias, panic and addictive disorders may also be alleviated.

The Mythic Imagination: An Experiential Workshop with Stephen and Robin Larsen

Using a thousand-year-old Welsh story, the tale of the wizard and bard, Taliesin, the Larsens take participants through an archetypal story of initiation and transformation. Ultimately participants are invited to find the seeds of their own hero journey in the bard’s tale of becoming. Hopefully each and every one will leave with a magical tidbit of inspiration for some life choice or creative project of their own.

Dr. Stephen Larsen will be presenting on the physiology and psychology of trauma assisted by two Vietnam vets and one Gulf War vet to explain what PTSD feels like and the new cutting edge treatments to address it.

Participants will be taught a simple, non-biofeedback technique (Havening) to help friends or relatives who have been traumatized.

Our bi-monthly Open House at Stone Mountain Center offers an opportunity for prospective clients, the families of those already in treatment or other health care professionals, to meet Dr. Stephen Larsen visit our Center and learn more about our biofeedback, neurofeedback and counseling services.
